Wednesday, December 9th Team Meeting
Book Club Reminders:
Book Club tomorrow will be virtual and will be reviewing The 4 Disciplines of Execution. One topic of conversation will be the difference between wanting to do something and developing a strategy for actually implementing it.
Next month's Book Club meeting will focus on The Ideal Team Player. If you need a copy, reach out to Chad. He can get a copy for you in paperback, audio book, or eBook format. Reading this book will be a value add for every person in the organization.
2021 Goal Setting:
Inspired by The 4 Disciplines of Execution, goal-setting for 2021 will start with the following questions:
If you could focus on one measurement for you personally or your department, what would it be?
What would you want to see on a daily, weekly, or monthly scoreboard that would keep you focused on your progress?
How will this one thing or this scoreboard help you work towards achieving our company goals?
Part One: Coming Up With One Measurement of Progress
in past years we tended to set multiple goals which may have been distracting
what are the activities that build toward success?
don't just focus on revenue
dwelling on "quantity" (lines of code, number of doors completed) has the potential to encourage you to rush to get higher numbers: our company goals stress quality over quantity
it may be helpful to start with a daily "WIG", or "Wildly Important Goal"
The goal you choose for yourself or your team should also be something for which you can create visibility. Next week, we'll be talking about how to make a scoreboard to inspire you to keep track of your progress, and how your one measurement relates to the overall goals of Loc-Doc.
