Google Voice - On Call Technicians
If you are a technician On Call, these are the instructions you must follow in Google Voice. This is an easier process to manage than Ringcentral, but will require ownership from the technician. You will be responsible for making yourself available/unavailable when your shift ends.
The majority of this process involves the Do Not Disturb function in your Google Voice App. See video below outlining how to turn Do Not Disturb on and off with a mobile phone.
STEP ONE: Your shift will be posted onto the shared Google Calendar (either On Call Access, managed by Derek, or On Call Locksmith, managed by Dylan). You will get a calendar notification the day before, and an hour before your shift starts.
STEP TWO: The On Call queue rings to everyone at once, but everyone except the on call technician will be in Do Not Disturb. When your shift begins, you need to make sure “Do Not Disturb” is turned off.
STEP THREE: When your shift ends, make sure to turn “Do Not Disturb” back on.
NOTE: If you need to swap or change shifts, make sure Dylan or Derek know so that they can update the calendar, then simply turn Do Not Disturb on and have the other technician turn Do Not Disturb off.
