Everything Bitting

Potential Pitfalls - The issues people are experiencing.

  • Legacy Bitting - Which bitting record is current?

    • Check the created date of each bitting record and use the most recent one.

    • Duplicates are common.

    • Check to see if a Generated System exists.

      • Check the location record for a "System ID"

      • In the case of multi-site systems, the System ID may not be present, in this case, check the generated system bitting by clicking "View Generated Bitting".

  • Bitting Linked to a Task but not an Opening

  • Paper Records

    • Take photos of the paper records and email the to Lucas@locdoc.net if they are not in OMS already.

  • Multi Site Systems

    • These are Master key systems that span multiple addresses in OMS.

    • Sometimes, only change keys under certain page masters are available for selection.

    • Many Locations may have the same System ID.

  • Multi System Sites

    • For Locations that have multiple generated systems, all generated bitting records can be viewed in "Generated Bitting".

    • Only one of the System ID's may be present on the location record.

Searching Bitting - How do I search bitting in a Generated System? How do I search Non Generated Bitting?

  • Navigate to the Bitting App.

  • The default dashboard contains a place to search "Address".

  • Navigating to the location is the easiest way to access bitting.

    • Searching all non generated bitting records or "System Id's" can be done from this same dashboard using the search shortcut "Non Master Key Bitting" or the "Master Key Bitting Search".

Navigating to Bitting from a Site Visit - How to I see bitting on a site visit?

  1. At the top of the Site Visit, if a generated system exists, you will see a Pink Colored Box that says "Generated System Linked".

  2. Go to "Jump to Location" and check "Bitting Quick Look", or view quick look from site visit level if available.

    1. Quick Look contains the GGMK, Control Key, Keyway information, and other sub-masters that may be in use.

  3. If bitting does not appear in quick look, check the location's "Non Master Key Bitting", and double check for "Generated Bitting".

    1. Both of these views can be found at the Top of "Location - Tech View" and towards the bottom of "Location and Facility Overview" if accessing from bitting app.

    2. Also check the location for attachments, this is where paper systems and scanned system may be attached.

  4. If no bitting exits or desired bitting is not found, check for “Similar” or “Duplicate” address. Return to step 1 if duplicate is found.

    1. LOG DUPLICATE so it can be removed - email lucas@locdoc.net with address.

  5. If all else fails, in some cases it may be beneficial to go to the Customer record, and look at different facilities.

  6. Lastly, the system may exist in paper records. This is especially true for Anderson, SC locations.

Ways to Manipulate and Select Biting - How to I interact with the bitting module from the Task and Opening?

  1. Master Key System - Link Existing

    1. Creation of system should ALWAYS happen before utilization

    2. Link blind codes to Opening Record upon update or creation (from task)

      1. Can be done from the task level (if done during a site visit)

      2. Can be done from the Opening Record (if done during a door survey)

      3. Opening Must be linked to a Location and saved in order to access the existing master key system

  2. General Bitting - Create or Link Existing

    1. Creation should happen on the task level, where linking will be automated

    2. Linking existing should also be done on the task level with an Opening.
