A door closer hole pattern is the measurement between the thru-bolt holes on the closer body, both vertically and horizontally.

Example:

Why is this important?

  1. You can identify a door closer that isn't labeled with a part number

  2. If you need a faster or better quality alternative, you can do so without drilling new holes.

What are the hole patterns for our most common closers?

9-1/16" x 3/4" - Arrow DC314

5" x 2-1/4" - Arrow DC516

12" x 3/4" - Yale 8301

See PDF attached for a reference to the hole patterns of many other closers
