Wednesday, March 3rd Team Meeting

(Happy birthday Christopher Baggett! 🥳🎉)

5S Review

SORT

  • identify what is needed and get rid of what is not

SET IN ORDER

  • determine the right place for items based on how they were sorted

  • mark that place in some way to delineate it as that item's home

SHINE

  • make it look clean

    • (our previous 5S Projects proved that we're good at this step)

STANDARDIZE

  • put a procedure in place to keep everything in its new order

    • (this could be something you do every time you interact with it, or something you do on a regular basis)

SUSTAIN

  • make sure you're maintaining that standardized procedure to keep your items set in order

5S Projects 2: Teamwork Boogaloo

Four areas around the office in Charlotte have been identified as spaces that need the 5S Treatment, and the company has been divided into four teams. Each team has been assigned to a cluttered space and contains one member of the management team. Working together and using the 5S Methodology, the teams should sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain the items in their assigned area before the end of the month, when the whole company will look at their before and after pictures and vote on the most successful. The teams will also need to elect members to fill three key roles. (It may be useful to use Culture Index scores to make those decisions.)

Roles:

  • Team Leader

    • this person will ultimately responsible for the team getting to where they need to be

    • this can't be someone who's part of the leadership team at Loc-Doc

  • Communications Coordinator

    • this person will make sure your team's get-togethers happen

    • this ensures that people who are working on the project remotely or from the Anderson office will be able to participate as much as those in the Charlotte office

  • Subject Matter Expert (S.M.E.)

    • this is a person with expertise in the area that is being reorganized

How will this project help us reach our Wildly Important Goal of servicing 18K openings in 2021?

  • coming up with a new and better system of organization will stop us from wasting our valuable time in inefficient areas

  • collectively as an organization, we waste around four hours of time trying to find things in the Charlotte office!
