Aaron Beaver Shares A Win

Shout-outs

We base our business and philosophy on our Core Values. Though we may not have had the year we wanted in 2020, based on what Aaron overheard from Chad's conversations with other companies in our field, it was apparent that Loc-Doc had a much more successful year. Shout-out to Chris and Chad's leadership: in 2020 Loc-Doc didn't have to have any layoffs even though our profits weren't where we originally hoped they would be. The last two weeks were incredible as well; additional shout-out to everyone who worked so hard to finish the year on a positive note.

This Week's Win

William was originally moving back and forth between the counter and purchasing/receiving under Nathan's leadership, but eventually moved to Sam's. Using lessons learned from The 4 Disciplines of Execution, he was able to be diligent and focused throughout the transition. He and Sam have continuously revised their dashboards until finally landing on one that has been working very well. They are also refining their department in order to set the techs, budget management, and rest of the organization up for future wins. Purchasing/Receiving is a massive cog in the Loc-Doc machine and deserve a recognition for it.

2021 Goal Setting

Don't forget, Intentional Execution means defining what winning looks like and refusing to give up until it's finished. Our 2021 Wildly Important Goal is to service 18,000 openings before the end of the year. For reference, in 2020 we serviced 13,000 openings while navigating a global pandemic.

Every team is also developing a goal that will help the organization meet its primary goal. You should be able to find some helpful graphs on your dashboard:

  • quotes approved for the entire month as well as for the week

  • new site visits Charlotte & Anderson for each week

  • billable time onsite vs. amount of time billed

  • Fuel Gauge progress vs. target

  • customer satisfaction ratings from the new email survey link

Individual Goals

In past years, you were encouraged to document your own achievable trackable goal. For this year, the plan is to use a similar method to develop a new discipline or habit each quarter. Chad has a printed-out discipline/habit builder in the warehouse and has some 16x20 ones on the way in case you would like to display yours in your workspace. You can also download a copy here. The tracker consists of a space for the date and a space for a checkbox for a total of fifty days. When you get your copy of the tracker, you should go ahead and fill in the next fifty days. Be honest with your checkmarks!

Levi and Sam have both been using a similar accountability tracker for the past year with positive results. Levi found that using the chart creates accountability, which leads to consistency, which leads to forming a habit. He now meets his three goals as a second nature without needing to use the chart or remind himself daily. Sam also found that displaying the chart meant that his teammates could see whether or not he'd been successful and hold him accountable.

Don't forget, hope is not an action plan. We can't hope to get better at something; we have to develop an action plan to do it.

In addition to using the tracker, Chad used the leftover Charades Cookie Jar to draw names and randomly assign an accountability buddy to everyone at Loc-Doc. For the first quarter, each person should reach out to their teammate on a daily basis to make sure they've both met their daily goal.

The buddies are:

Aaron Beaver & Joe Williams

Adam Svagr & Josh Smith

Andrew Ingram & Erin Maness

Andrew Moody & Sergey Shamshur

Brandon Clark & Jonathan Mariucci

Christopher Bagget & Eric Spear

Craig Smith & McDouglas Perez

Derek Tyler & Leonard McConniel

Dylan Tyler & Isaiah Etheridge

Eric Brown & Levi Gray

Genadiy Shamshur & Lucas Ward

Jessica Bennett & Thomas Heavey

Jordan Boatwright & Kevan Starr

Michael Childress & Nan Wisham

Mike Tyler & Vladimir Melnikov

Nathan Hammer & Sam Gray

Roman Klimenko & Zach Phifer

William Gleaves & Jessica Lingafelt

In April, we'll all pick a new goal and be assigned a new accountability partner.

Book Club

A lot of people in the organization have been getting involved in the Book Club and the latest book. The next meeting is scheduled for January 14th, a week from tomorrow, so anyone who wants to participate has until then to finish reading The Ideal Team Player. Even if you aren't planning to attend the meeting, Chad highly recommends the book. It's a short and easy read: only 240 pages, and described by the publisher as "as useful as it is compelling". If you would like a digital or print copy, Chad can provide one for free.
