Wednesday, November 4th Team Meeting
Remember the Four Factors for Finishing:
FUN: finding ways to enjoy what we do
create FANS, not customers
FUNDAMENTALS: sticking to the basics that have made Loc-Doc a success
and... FOCUS
Focusing on FOCUS
Michael Phelps is an Olympic swimmer who got a bunch of his medals for team events even though he wasn't one of the people who swam in the finals. Overall, the people who did swim in the finals wouldn't have been able to win if it hadn't been for the way Phelps and their other teammates had swum in the earlier part of the race.
What are some of the things you can do in your job - your leg of the race - that will allow your teammates to complete their tasks in their legs of the race?
What does double-checking mean to you?
Is it just looking at things twice? What does looking at the same thing twice - seeing the same information two times - actually accomplish?
What if, instead, double-checking meant checking in two different ways?
How does having something to double-check against help you in your daily work?
when you stop at the parts table, are you actually counting the screws in the box?
do you actually read the instructions that come with parts you aren't familiar with?
don't forget to double-check afterward that your completed work is up to standard before declaring your work finished
Wrap-Up
focus on thinking ahead to solve the problem you're working on now
make sure your double-checking isn't just looking at the same wrong thing twice
Great recap! Focus = being intentional!
